Salley Vickers, bestselling author of Miss Garnett’s Angel, will talk with psychoanalyst Michael Parsons about the themes of art, love and death that recur within her work. Their conversation will also explore the portrayal of a therapist and his suicidal patient in Vickers’ The Other Side of You. Her latest book, Where Three Roads Meet, is published in November. It tells of the last year of Freud’s life, during which he is visited by Tiresias, the blind seer of Greek myth, who recounts his vision of the Oedipus story. Salley Vickers has worked as a university teacher of literature and an analytical psychotherapist with a special interest in creativity. She now writes full time. Michael Parsons works in private practice in London. Before training as a doctor and psychoanalyst he studied classics and philosophy, and he has a particular interest in the relationship between psychoanalysis and literature. He is the author of The Dove that Returns, The Dove that Vanishes: Paradox and Creativity in Psychoanalysis. |
